Towpath Trail – Sept. 30, 2020

After completing the “Full On CVNP” in July I decided I needed a new hiking goal. I decided that since I’d already hiked a bunch of the Towpath Trail during that event, I’d set a new goal of hiking the entire length of the Towpath. Here’s the first entry on that journey, from Sept. 30, 2020.

Hiked 10.3 miles on the Towpath Trail this morning, starting at Rockside Road in Independence, and hiked north all the way to Tremont. Figured I’d get a Lyft back to my car, but for some reason the Lyft app said it didn’t have a valid form of payment. Tried two different credit cards, and a debit card. Nothing. Same problem with Uber. WTF? Fortunately I had the RTA app, which a) told me which bus route to take from where I was (Sokolowski’s University Inn) back to my car, and b) how to get to the appropriate bus stop! It also took my credit card to buy my bus fare. So, huge win for RTA, and bigger loss for both Lyft and Uber.

  1. Using a credit card to pay RTA bus fare?! Ok… that’s sweet! I had no idea you could do that with their system. I remember buying bus passes ahead of time at the grocery store. It’s good to see GCRTA evolving with the times.
